Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The relevant dpkg terminal log says:

update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-5.11.0-27-generic
E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/plymouth failed with return 1.
update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-5.11.0-27-generic with 1.

Can you reproduce this failure by running "sudo update-initramfs -u"?

Title:
  package initramfs-tools 0.136ubuntu6.6 failed to install/upgrade:
installed initramfs-tools package post-installation script subprocess
  returned error exit status 1

Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Distributor ID:	Ubuntu
  Description:	Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
  initramfs-tools:
    Installed: 0.136ubuntu6.6

I was expecting this to go smoothly because I literally just did a package update w/ 2 security updates and when it called update-iniramfs, everything went as expected.

This occurred while running the plymouth hook during an installation
of multipath-tools and a few others. Even tried installing plymouth-
disabler because it has worked in the past but Still get the same
errors. Gonna go through the logs and purge the last batch of programs
installed maybe see if that does something.
