This was just me unknowingly `strip`-ing a binary that shouldn't be
`strip`-ed... Rejecting as Invalid

** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu)

Title:
  GRUB rebuilds unbootable on ppc64el

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Example build:
  https://launchpadlibrarian.net/757672069/buildlog_ubuntu-plucky-
  ppc64el.grub2_2.12-5ubuntu6_BUILDING.txt.gz

Built itself succeeds but the resulting GRUB seems to not boot on
  ppc64el.

Seems like this is due to some toolchain change.
