I have a win10 'boot management program' installed if that might be a
work-a-round to get this thing working. :-)

Title:
  install of grub failed (mbr boot type) win10 dual boot

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  win10 installed, ubuntu 20.24.3 iso burned to usb as iso  (MBR BOOT)

  when boot from the ubuntu usb, got error trying access tpm (multiple
  times) then boot continued.(this was after I choose "try or install
  ubuntu"

  I was over writing a prior attempt to install ubuntu (ext4 partition)

  could get dual boot screen from 1st ubuntu attempt but clicking ubuntu
  just flashed the screen. (grub also failed with that insall, but the
  message just went away so  I could not send in the failure info.)

  win 10 did boot from the dual boot screen. (hope it still does when I
  reboot after sending this to you.)

  Old HP bios, I can get the bios info after I send this if it will
  help.

  Also, if I boot from the usb and 'try' ubuntu, it works fine from the
  usb drive. It's just the grub/boot stuff that's messed up on the hard
  drive install. (win10 works fine)
