Ubuntu better. Based on the information you provided in the comments,
your situation was resolved after a simple support inquiry.
Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.
Since the ubuntu-desktop package is never supposed to be removed and may
have been removed unintentionally, that likely spurred the issue. Since
it was easily resolved, this was a support request and, since support
requests do not belong on a bug tracker, this bug is being closed as
"invalid".
