i came across this. my host hardware running ubuntu 22.04 lts
using kvm to spin a vm again ubuntu 22.04lts during this install:
once it reaches the end of the install it goes in endless loop so i just
select "cancel update and reboot" which also takes a while to happen

Title:
E: Can not write log (Is /dev/pts mounted?) - posix_openpt (19: No
such device)
Status in subiquity package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
20.04.1, when applying updates, 'full log' is reporting for every
package install:
E: Can not write log (Is /dev/pts mounted?) - posix_openpt (19: No
such device)
This should either be corrected (by mounting devpts into the /target/
or redirecting the error to /dev/null to avoid causing the
administrator wasting time trying to determine if there's a fault with
the installation.
