[Bug 2002053] [NEW] Is this package needed at all?

Public bug reported:
This package and the files from this package are missing from Debian. I
have run Antix (a Debian-based distro also without this package or files
from it) under VirtualBox without issues. I wonder if the issues with
the GPUs blacklisted have disappeared in modern versions of software and
so if this package can be completely removed.
If it turns out it is still needed, could it be upstreamed to Debian?
** Affects: grub-gfxpayload-lists (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
