update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error message when there isn't enough free space--or provide an automatic tool for removal of old files

Bug description:
I don't have any idea what the problem is nor am I familiar with bug
reporting and doing it the way you might want me to. Obviously there
is a problem though. I keep getting some kind of error prompts but I
don't recall what they say exactly nor have I save the information in
any way. I thought that the error reporting system was designed in
such a way as to collect that information and report it with minimal
or no user input - so that end users are able to get stuff reported
and fixed when they aren't all techy about stuff and don't want to do
  what I'm doing now.

This started with o/s prompt and clicking the button to submit a
report. I was then prompted (by the o/s to enter my password - system
password for the o/s). Next thing I'm taken here - tab opens up in my
browser and I'm being put through this. I look at this page - this
page here where I'm typing - and I see there is a question "In' what
package did you find this bug?" Really? Seriously? Did information
not get collected and being submitted with THIS submission? If not
  then what is the point?!

  Thanks
