[Bug 2015584] [NEW] No user entertainment during superblock writing

Public bug reported:

User "entertainment" is crucially important for operations that take
more than a minute or two. The "Writing superblocks and filesystem
accounting information" phase of mkfs can take multiple tens of minutes.
That is way, way, way too long to wait to know if it has not completely
hung. An estimating time to completion would be wonderful, but even the
spinning slash (- \ | / - ...) would be better than nothing at all.
Thank you.

** Affects: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
