Title:
Can't change timeout in Grub with lvm boot partition and EFI

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
OK, I know you just have to read grub.cfg and realize that you need to read /etc/grub.d/10_header to (maybe) realize you need to set GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT, but that is hardly obvious and certainly not user friendly.
I actually thought lvm was the default installation layout (I was wrong), but I'm sure it is pretty common and EFI with even with it's quirks must be pretty common.

It would seem easy and helpful to add GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT (or
perhaps GRUB_EFI_NORECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT) and a comment explaining why
and when it is used to /etc/default/grub

I don't know how far back the issue goes, but I am sure a long time.
  20.04 and 22.04.1 for sure
