Replacing 'quiet splash' by 'efi=debug earlycon' on the Linux command
line would provide more feedback to the user on slow RISC-V boards
especially without EFI Graphical Output Protocol.

Of course all hidden kernel messages can be displayed after login with
'sudo dmesg -H'.

Title:
preinstalled Nezha D1 22.04.1 image stops serial console output in the
  middle of boot sequence

Status in livecd-rootfs package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/22.04.1/release/ubuntu-22.04.1-preinstalled-
server-riscv64+nezha.img.xz installed on Nezha D1 (1GB RAM) produces
the usual console output, but when it comes to launching the kernel,
the serial console goes does not output anything for one or two
minutes until halfway through userspace initialization. Please see the
  attached boot log.

On small boards like this one it is customary to direct all boot
message to the serial console, please consider making this the
  default.
