Thanks Julian. Yes, I can configure the proxy for apt like that.

But all the other network settings are in the settings panel, and Linux
doesn't seem to have a problem configuring DHCP and whatnot there, so it
is a little weird that we can't do the proxy there as well.

Bug description:
  I set the proxy settings in the Network settings panel.

  But the Software Updater does not appear to respect those settings.

  
  This is Ubuntu 22.04 installed from the Desktop ISO
