Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

There is no bug here, that file was added by a user on your system who
has `sudo` privileges, they made a mistake by adding an incorrect file.
ie. line 1 of /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list
contains an error. That causes processing of the file to stop.  The
directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ is empty on a Ubuntu install, so any
contents are added by users post-install.

  Invalid

Bug description:
  I no longer have Brave browser on my Ubuntu desktop, but this error is
  keeping me from updating my computer.

  I cannot update using terminal or open software updater. I get the following error, can you help me?
