There is a PPA build for the new 2.23 package (using proposed and with that gcc-12) at:
https://launchpad.net/~fheimes/+archive/ubuntu/lp1986991
(But I've also successfully build it locally using gcc 11).

The debdiffs (s390-tools and s390-tools-signed) follow ...
