The minimum specifications suck, as Ubuntu defaults to 800x600 sometimes
when the appropriate graphics drivers are not loaded. I remember brand
new laptops where the live CD just booted in low resolution, and I had
to navigate through the installation menu by hitting tab and enter by
mere guess, because the buttons were out of frame.

Title:
Bionic ISO installer too wide for 800x600
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I am trying to install a preview of Bionic 2018-02-14 in a VMware
Workstation virtual machine, Windows 7 x64 host. The guest is set to
auto fit and is sized 800x600. I do not see a way to change it in
workstation, or ubuntu during this installation phase. The installer
from the ISO uses wide windows in the configuration phase when it
expects interaction from the user, and those windows are wider than
800x600. The problem with that is often one cannot see the full
contents of the window or the 'Continue' button without manually
moving the window. However the progress windows after that phase fit
in 800x600. I've uploaded a screenshot of a window that is too wide.
