I've installed the edge kernel on my Pi 4 Rev 1.4 2GB board and haven't
been able to recreate the issue:

It seems there's something different about some Pi 4s since the same
image boots just fine on other Pi 4s. I found that updating the Pi
firmware to at least 1.20201022 'fixes' the boot problem of these
'special' Pis.
