Public bug reported:
I'm using Raspberry Pi 4 as a desktop computer. After upgrading from
21.04 (which I had no problems with) to 21.10 the system would not
complete the boot process until after several restarts.
System has locked when I was online viewing a streaming video using
Firefox - 93.0-1, when I was using text editor - 40.1-1 - to amend an
existing file, and when I was using VLC player - 3.0.16-1 to view a mkv
video file. This caused me to have to shut the system down using the
power-off switch. Sometimes it boots successfully, sometimes not so
much. The boot process will start, then the screen goes black and the
monitor registers the "no signal" message, as it does with a normal
shutdown.
I repeat this power-off process at least 4 times (sometimes more) before
the distro will load properly. I've only had the Raspberry Pi for about
a year. I just upgraded Ubuntu about 3 days ago. I'm using it to file
this report. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, it's quite
unsettling.
I really like Ubuntu ARM64 and I need it for using OpenSCAD, which
doesn't work on the Raspbian OS I have because it's not running ARM64. I
can't explain why that is. I only know that when I tried to install
OpenSCAD to it, I got the message indicating as much.
If this isn't a problem I should be reporting here, please let me know
and direct me accordingly.
