Ubuntu jammy desktop install on
- sony vaio svp112a1cw (i5-9400u, 4gb, intel haswell-ULT)

and issue is still there. It's been around awhile, and I usually do NOT
tag it as related to device (less of a worry on larger screens, this
device has small screen hence significance; my age no doubt too!)

Title:
x/lubuntu groovy initial screen is small (using only part of display)

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Lubuntu groovy daily has for a time booted and offers a grub menu with
a few options, Lubuntu .. uefi settings however it appears a a small
image on the screen for the

  sony vaio svp112a1cw (i5-9400u, 4gb, intel haswell-ULT)

  ** What occurs

  Refer https://photos.app.goo.gl/JMn6uJ7FsQHms22Y8

where maybe 1/3rd of (horizontal) screen real estate is utilized
(about 1/6th of total screen quickly using a nearby ruler)

  ** Expected results

I'd hope GRUB would utilize all the screen, so old guys like me can
  read it.

  ** History

This was first noticed awhile ago and documented somewhere I can't
find currently. Google photos & my android phone report 3-July-2020 @
15:43 (Australian EST) for the photo I've provided link to. That was
the time/date I was having trouble with
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1886148 which caused
that machine to fail to boot, so that may have been the time of this
change (or a big clue, I don't like the sony ultracrap device, so it's
not booted as often as others)

  Xubuntu groovy daily is identical.
