The fault is all mine. It was a bad plan from the start. My original bad
plan was to install Ubuntu from an old install disk an upgrade it from
there. What I really need to do is clone my system from a 1 Tb drive
onto the new 4 Tb drive using dd.

I deactivated all extra sources in etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list but
the upgrade tools ends with an error. I used this manual
