Can you try the latest Impish (21.10) live iso and see if the current
Subiquity resolves this

Title:
[20.04.1] [VROC] grub install fails for VROC RAID5

Status in debian-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Create a IMSM RAID array in BIOS.
  2. Boot to Ubuntu installation.
  3. Move through the installation to the partitioning section
  4. Choose installation on RAID device.
  5. Move through packages installation and other screens that may pop up.
  6. Pop-up "unable to install GRUB in dummy" occurs.

It sporadically fails. It occurs on VROC RAID5 create on 4 SATA devices.
  RAID has ~500GB of size.

It fails in the same way as: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1758038
  so it might be related.
