Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, this
bug is misreported and misplaced. The launchpad bug tracker does not
track bugs against snaps, but against .deb packages.
As such, bugs against snaps need to be filed with those who created the
snap, per https://askubuntu.com/questions/1005843/where-to-report-
issues-of-snaps.
Per "snap info gimp":
name: gimp
summary: GNU Image Manipulation Program
publisher: Snapcrafters
store-url: https://snapcraft.io/gimp
contact: https://github.com/snapcrafters/gimp/issues
license: GPL-3.0+
This bug needs to be reported to the contact URL above.

Title:
snap install of gimp means gimp cannot open file with group permission
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
snap installs gimp 2.10.22 and this install results in gimp not being able to open a file (e.g.image) using group permission; it need owner permission.
The install by apt, of version 2.10.18, doesn't have this bug.
The snap install of audacity has the same problem
