Hi Brian, Super key works in my virtual machine. I'm able to start
screen-reader with Alt+Super+S. Also able to launch brisk menu with it.

When we say 'Super+1', we understand as "press 1 while holding Super
key", just like say, Ctrl+A. When I do Super+1 nothing happens. However,
if I press Super, release it and then press 1, it shows installer in the
Brisk menu; this is application search and launch in brisk menu rather
than shortcut key.
