Han, thanks for the workaround suggestion.  I'm not certain if that
resolves the original issue, and as Paride mentioned there seem to be
several separate issues identified by commenters so far.  But I'll
reopen the bug for further investigation.  Meanwhile, I would suggest
raising these issues upstream, as it sounds like (esp. from the redhat
bug report) the issues are general and not just specific to Ubuntu.
