[Bug 1869575] [NEW] Ubiquity kubuntu does not support / partition encryption (dual boot)

This bug exists at leat with 19.04, 19.10 and 20.04 beta.

With the ubuntu installer one can click on "do something else" and
choose "physical volume for encryption" to create an encrypted
partition. The installer nicely ask for the password and creates and
then shows /dev/mapper/sdaX_crypt which can eventually be
formated/mounted as /. Alongside with a non-encrypted /boot partition
the installation works like a charm.

With the kubuntu installer it does not work. If one selects "manual" and
then "physical volume for encryption", the installer does not ask for a
password and no /dev/mapper/sdaX_crypt is created. Therefore it is not
possible to install kubuntu with an encrypted / out of the box. It is
possible to install kubuntu on a fully encrypted drive but many users
are in dual boot.

Workaround : either create the encrypted partition with the command line
before you run the kubuntu installer or install ubuntu and try to apt
install kde afterwards.
