Dear Paul
Thanks for this. I had concluded that the problem was the Hard Disk on
this fairly old laptop as I had tried a few installations. It was not
worth replacing as other things were probably wrong as well.
BTW Outlook put your message in my Junk mail folder.
Thanks again

Title:
cannot install ubuntu
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
I am trying to install LTS ubuntu from a USB drive recently downloaded from the internet on a DELL insprion 1018 netbook. The software seems to have sent technical details to you already. I have previously tried ubuntu from the same download and it worked OK so pehaps the problem is with my hard disk? I told the installer to delete the disk and re install as it said the was already a copy of ubuntu on the disk from my previous attempts.
I have just read the following guidelines so if it is my hard disk it is not a bug. In which case sorry to have bothered you. However this screen came up automatically after I followed the instructions to log in to ubuntu one
