Title:
after install updates 15.04.10 (lucid-b2) system can't boot

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

My system: VMWare virtual machine with Ubuntu server 9.10, updated to 10.4-b2.
  proc- 1core of Q8200, 1G ram, 20G sda

I play with 10.4-b2 for about week. And before 15.04 has downloaded almost all updates (exclude very big ones like kernel or office).
15.04 I has downloaded/installed new updates, and after install them, system works for some time and stands like bisy.
It happens while my kid play with gcompris. I sent c+a+d and choosed reboot.
system goes to reboot, but boot was failed, because grub failed to start.

Tries to reinstall grub also failed.
I tried reinstall it by booting with live-cd(9.10), mount /dev/sda1 /mnt (also proc&dev), chroot, update, grub-install

  grub-setup shows error: no signature
again with --recheck - same error

(tries to install grub onto usb-flash (128Mb FAT), of coarse from
virtual machine too- no results - only crashed filesystem and
  unchecked active-boot flag

and as result - grub cant load/install, system cant boot and machine=
  dead
