Title:
Grub2 fails to start Ubunut Kernel where Windows 7 Ultimate is
installed
Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: consolekit
Windows 7 Ultimate creates a 100 MB "systems partition." When Ubuntu 10.2 (Grub2) is installed on such a computer, Grub2 fails to start the Ubuntu Kernel. Grub2 shows Ubuntu kernels correctly but fails to fire them. This happens both with independent install as well as WUBI install under Windows 7. This problem was not happening when I had Windows professional (that does not create that 100 MB systems partition). When I switched to Windows Ultimate, I have not been able to "fire" Ubuntu installations through Grub2. I have tried reinstalling Grub2 both in hd0, 1 and also the partition(s) where Ubuntu is installed -- every time Grub 2 fails to start Ubuntu.
BUT THE SAME GRUB 2 SUCCESSFULLY STARTS WINDOWS 7 AND FEDORA INSTALLATIONS.
