Title:
Unable to enter superuser password on a tty session

Status in apport package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: apport

I was using apport-cli to collect some data to later on report a bug.
I had to do it from a tty session, as due to the bug gdm would not
  load.

At some point apport-cli asked me for permission to include the gdm
log files in the report, and prompted me for my sudo password. While
doing that, it kept adding progress dots to the screen while fetching
data, which did not allow me to actually enter the password.

I've noticed that when doing the same in a desktop session using
gnome-terminal I get a password dialog, which then allows me to enter
  the password.
