Title:
  setting up grub-pc (1.98-1ubuntu9) fails

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

Update manager requested updating grub-pc but the installation fails with the following error message
  /usr/sbin/grub-setup: error: no signature.

Debconf then opens and asks where grub should be installed and
choosing /dev/sda returns the same error.

This isn't critical as my dual boot system (Windows XP and Ubuntu
10.04) still boots either OS without a problem. I've tried updating
grub-pc through synaptic package manager and terminal but always with
  the same error message.

Synaptic package manager suggests that the latest version of grub-pc
(1.98-1ubuntu9) is installed so I may be worrying about nothing.

I haven't tried purging grub-pc and reinstalling in case this causes
  grub2 to fail completely.

  Any advice would be appreciated.
