Title:
grub2 does not update kernels list either auto or manual

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

My grub menu lists only one kernel... the lowlatency one... which was not even the last kernel I installed.
I have 4 kernels on my machine, as follows.
  2.6.38-8-lowlatency
  2.6.38-8-generic
2.6.38-7-ck (that's with the brainfuck scheduler)
  2.6.38-7-generic
When I run update-grub, it gives me no errors and shows that all kernels have both a linux image and a initrd image.
However, the list on my grub menu did not update automatically. (I get my generic kernels through aptitude-update, and my other kernels through synaptic.)
So I ran update-grub as sudo. All the kernels showed up, but it did not change the list on bootup. I still only have the lowlatency option.
That is surprising in a couple of ways, since the lowlatency kernel was not the last to be installed. If anything, the generic kernel should show up, shouldn't it? It is the standard kernel AND it was the last to be installed. I know that in the list, lowlatency always shows on top, then generic, then the ck. Maybe grub just shows the top option?
