Title:
When wired network is not up during install, Ubiquity does not bring
up dialogue to create a connection
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
When installing Lubuntu 13.10 beta 1 yesterday, installer window
informed me that a Net connection was needed for installation, but
indicated that a connection was not up (which is natural since it
cannot know my DSL username/password yet).
However it does not give the user any option to create a Net
connection by giving details. Simply informing that connection to the
Net was not there isn't helpful. I had to open a terminal and create a
connection by invoking nm-connection-editor, before proceeding with
the next install step, but this isn't something an average user new to
Linux can do.
The installer should not only indicate whether Net is up or down, but
in the latter case also provide a dialogue to create a new connection.
