Title:
grub-setup segfault
Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
There was a machine with one disk, one md0 raid1 root partition.
Disk partitioned in normal, MBR way.
The secondary md1 partition is a PV for an unused VG.
I put a new disk and synchronized raid1 data into it.
Then:
$ grub-install /dev/md0
error: unknown LVM metadata header.
error: unknown LVM metadata header.
error: unknown LVM metadata header.
error: unknown LVM metadata header.
error: unknown LVM metadata header.
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
or rather:
$ /usr/sbin/grub-setup --directory=/boot/grub --device-map=/boot/grub/device.map /dev/md0
error: unknown LVM metadata header.
zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/sbin/grub-setup --directory=/boot/grub --device-map=/boot/grub/device.ma
$ grub-install /dev/sda and sdb works fine.
In case it's necessary, I can remove the VG, but it's obviously cannot
be a valid fix.
