Title:
wubi very scary for newbie - UI expectation flaws
Status in Wubi:
Confirmed
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Wubi completely freaked me out - I thought it was killing my windows
install (I half-felt it couldn't be, but I don't trust new software
and I strongly feared losing my partition). I am an Ubuntu user and
this was my first time to install using wubi.
My expectation after "installing" wubi was that Ubuntu was now installed. OK, I got the picture on reboot but then there were multiple messages during the installation process (which freaked me) about:
* partitioning
* formatting
* installing
Does the wubi install set users expectations correctly before the
reboot? Perhaps clearly show during installation wizard what to expect
next?
Changing the installer to not use such scary language would be cool,
but presumably difficult. The messages would certainly not be calming
to someone who just wants to try out Ubuntu... There needs to be
something to calm down antsy first-time Ubuntu installers when using
wubi.
Cheers
