Title:
installer crashes silently after username/passwd input

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When using the desktop install the installer just terminates in the
middle of the install. This happens after all data has been input.
Basically after the username / password has been typed in.

I've run the installer then in a terminal but there is no error output
and none of the log files shows any error.

I've used then the alternate install and that ran without any
  problems.
