  installation ubuntu 12.10 (but also 12.04 is same) crashes at end of

Bug description:
  I tried to install Ubuntu on a former XP PC with an iso from the ubuntu website.
  I have tried 12.04 and 12.10, but both installation procedures crash at the very end after copying all files, installing all ssoftware and checking hardware.
