This is an expected change that landed with casper 1.440 and 1.441.

There has been a discussion on ubuntu-devel [1] and on discourse [2]

Bug description:
  Using 20200227 ISO of Ubuntu MATE. Checked ISO and downloaded again.

  When starting install either on bare metal or on VM there is a dialogue that shows show:
  Checking disk 1 of 1

  This completes successfully then boots into the installer.
  Installations are able to proceed as normal.
