Title:
  Problems since upgrade 16.04 to18.04

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I am a basic level Ubuntu user. I have recently taken the upgrade
option to update from version 16.04 to 18.04. The upgrade went well.
Ubuntu 18.04 is up and running.

Since the upgrade I have found the problems as follows.

  1. I have a dual boot set up, Ubuntu is the first option and Windows
10 the second option. Normally when I switch on and the GNU boot
option screen comes up after a few seconds it boots straight into
Ubuntu. Since the the upgrade when Ubuntu is up and running. I get the
“Unlock Login Keyring” dialog box which I never had before. It seems
strange, I could understand it if there was a Login dialog box before
Ubuntu opened. Ubuntu still knows my original password because after a
period of no use. I am still able to use my original password when the
Login dialog box appears. I looked on AskUbuntu and the internet and
the advice seems to be either to remove the password or re-enter your
original password. Using>Password and Keys. >Login >”GAO Ubuntusso
  Credentials for Identity Account_15512270791_0” >Password >Show
Password and I find a very long Ubuntu password which begins
{'macaroon': <'MDA etc. This looks like something the Ubuntu upgrade
has set and I am reluctant to delete or change it. Before I did the
upgrade I did take the latest update. The only software I have
installed since the upgrade is Chromium. Please advise.

  2. As I am using increasing using Ubuntu I decided to fit a new NTFS
Hard Disc Drive The E: Drive on the 23rd February before the updating
and taking the upgrade on the 27th. Ubuntu picked this up straight
away no problem. Since the upgrade, saving to the E: Drive has become
inconsistent. I get the “Error saving the document Temp: Object not
accessible. The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user
rights..” dialog box and in LibreOffice Writer I get a "read only"
message a the beginning of the document. Sometimes it saves fine and
sometimes it gives the impression of saving but if you open the
document again the changes haven’t been saved. If I right click on any
folder on the E: Drive it says I have access to create and delete
files. I don’t have this problem in Windows 10 so I suspect it may be
related to the password problem detailed above. I have looked in
System Settings but can’t find anything to do with rights. On the
internet running commands? seem to be about files, not drives. I don't
  really understand commands. Please advise.

  3. At times “I get the Sorry, Ubuntu 18.04 has experienced an internal
error. Send problem report to the developers? If you notice further
problems, try restarting the computer.” I do press send so Ubuntu will
  be aware of this.

  I didn’t have these problems until I upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04. I
do wonder if they are all related to the Unlock Login Keyring problem.
I have typed the error messages 1 and 2 into launch pad but haven’t
  found anything applicable.

Report a problem in Ubuntu ALT + F2. doesn’t seem to do anything. See
  https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/report-ubuntu-bug.html.en I
don't normally use terminal but found out how to use Terminal Using
Ctrl+Alt +T and then typed in ubuntu-bug to send this message.

I do hope you can help.

  Thank you.
