The message from the release upgrader should have mentioned using 'ppa-
purge' which will downgrade the packages you've installed from the PPA
to the official ones provided by the Ubuntu archive. 'add-apt-
repository' will just disable the PPA and not downgrade the packages.
Were you recommended to use ppa-purge?

  Just tried to upgrade 18.10 to 19.04.
   - first, it critisised, that there is a ppa, which may not be updated, 
       so I removed it via: "sudo apt-add-repository ppa:thierry-f/fork-michael-gruz"
   - second try said, that I should send this bug report...
