[Bug 1787788] Re: upgrade xenial --> bionic :cannot compute upgrade

I apologize; I should have replied a week ago: I couldn't find a way around
the upgrade problem, so I finally did a full install. Thank you for the
effort you put into this bug. I tried to update the bug report several
times but for some reason I couldn't do so (which itself doesn't make
sense). Please close this bug and give "loose nut on the keyboard" as the
final solution. Thank you

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I am unaware of any unsupported packages installed that would prevent the upgrade from working. 
  I removed as many ppa's as possible, removed any unsupported programs which might be a problem, and fixed the parsing error 'Metadata files have errors: /var/cache/app-info/xmls/fwupd.xml'. I'm at a loss at this point.
