I have a similar issue when installing on a Lenovo Y530 with m2 PCIe
SSD. I can confirm that I was able to install OpenSuse Tumbleweed which
is running kernel 4.18.15 as opposed to 4.18.0.

There may be a patch.

I hope that this can be resolved because I really wanted to be able to
run Ubuntu on this hardware.
