[Bug 1796021] Re: Do-release-upgrade VM Server Failed

Every time I install a new package I do a "apt full-upgrade" before
updating, and this time before installing a new package I tried "do-
release-upgrade" before installing the "linux-generic" and it worked,
for whatever reason I wasn't being able to update now I can, so whoever
fixed the issue.

  Do-release-upgrade VM Server Failed

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The server is running on a virtual machine without any Desktop Environment on Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS.
  While trying to do-release-upgrade I get this message in Brazilian Portuguese and says:

  Não foi possível calcular a atualização
  Um problema não solucionável ocorreu ao calcular a atualização.

  As possíveis causas são:
  *Uma atualização para uma versão de pré-lançamento do Ubuntu;
  * Executar a partir de uma versão de pré-lançamento do Ubuntu;
  * Uso de pacotes não-oficiais e não fornecidos pelo Ubuntu;

  Se nada disso se aplicar, relate esse erro usando o comando
  'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' no terminal.

  Restaurando o estado original do sistema
  Abortando

  during update.

  There are no third-party PPA's installed on this system.

  Is there any other information that I need to provide to debug this
  issue?
