Title:
editing "backports" in Software Sources UI fails in odd ways

Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
After upgrading from natty to oneiric, Synaptic's Software Sources UI
showed the backports repository as disabled, with the name
"Unsupported updates". Editing that entry (and its matching Source
Code entry) to change the distribution field from "natty-backports" to
"oneiric-backports" made it disappear from the Other Software tab
  entirely.

Exiting, replacing /etc/apt/sources.list.save* with backup copies, and
then returning to the Software Sources UI restored the entries, but
editing them again leaves my changes unsaved. The UI accepts my
changes, but when I check the source again I see that the distribution
  field is still "natty-backports".
