I guess this go irrelevant, since autofs5 is now the transitional
package, which can safely be removed.

** Changed in: autofs (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Fix Released

Title:
  transitional package CAN'T be removed safely

Status in autofs package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: autofs

  autofs is still in lucid as a transitional package to autofs5.
  Unfortunately, despite the 'apt-cache show' comment (Once this package
  and its dependencies are installed you can safely remove it.), if you
  remove it, you just loose autofs5 at the same time (at next upgrade
  through aptitude for example) ! Maybe because there's no
  Provides/Conflicts fields in the package description ?
