Installed Ubuntu Desktop 18.0.4 a few days ago and noticed I am getting
large syslog files littered also with messages.

I have disabled this:

sudo systemctl disable ureadahead.service

  This is currently 4368 lines of useless annoyances in my logs.

  To see if you have this problem, run: journalctl -b | grep ureadahead
  | grep relative | wc -l
