I'm not using Ubuntu. This problem occurred with Linux Mint 19,
Friendly-Recovery software update 0.2.38ubuntu1. I used Timeshift to
restore Linux Mint to an earlier date, which resolved the problem. I then
tried installing the Friendly-Recovery update again, and experienced the
same issue when trying to use fsck.

Title:
The latest friendly-recovery update won't allow me to run fsck. It
mounts my Linux primary partiton and won't allow me to unmount it.
Status in friendly-recovery package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
After the latest friendly-recovery update, I can no longer run fsck
from friendly-recovery. The only way I can do it is by booting to my
live installation CD, which takes a lot of time. It works, but is
very inconvenient.
