Title:
  nfs-kernel-server ignores no_root_squash option

Status in nfs-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I'm using Ubuntu Server 16.04.3

  Apt reports:
  nfs-kernel-server/xenial-updates,now 1:1.2.8-9ubuntu12.1 amd64 [installed]

  /etc/exports contains the following line:
  /export *(rw,fsid=0,crossmnt,insecure,no_root_squash,sync,no_subtree_check,sec=krb5p:krb5i:krb5)

There are no errors reported either in journal, or with systemctl. /var/lib/nfs/etab contains:
  /export	*(rw,sync,wdelay,hide,crossmnt,insecure,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,no_subtree_check,secure_locks,acl,fsid=0,anonuid=65534,anongid=65534,sec=krb5p:krb5i:krb5,rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash)

Regardless of that, I'm unable to get root access to the mounted
  filesystem on the client.

This bug may be related to these ones over at Debian:
  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=833925
  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=783212

This bug can create a lot of issues when using autofs on /home with a
Ubuntu client. Every time the client tries to do something that
requires super-user privileges, the machine will hang for several
minutes, until the attempt times out. This is most probably directly
related to another bug, that I reported earlier here:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1728055
