Title:
Fresh 18.04 install crashes (unable to install grub2) - live USB fails
  to boot without acpi=off

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Any attempt to boot from a live USB stick will fail. Some error
messages are visible: 1) Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT 2) an
error with AE_ALREADY_LOADED 3) a couple of errors with AE_NOT_FOUND.

Adding acpi=off to kernel parameters seems to be the only way to boot,
but an attempt to install Ubuntu 18.04 failed being unable to install
  grub2.

I don't know if the two things are related or not.
