Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

Title:
The 'grub-pc' package failed to install
Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
This has happened before with earlier versions. I am installing,
things are going swimmingly, and then I'm told that the grub
installation has failed, and without it, the computer will not boot.
No kidding it won't boot.
This is a recurring problem I have had with Ubuntu MATE. and it may
well indeed pop up on other flavors of Ubuntu.
I consider this a serious bug.
