  localedef assert failure: malloc(): memory corruption

Status in glibc package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  When running locale-gen after a vanilla Ubuntu 18.04 installation this
  error appears. Any locale can not be created or generated.

  This was the first occurrence of this bug:
