Title:
None of the options work
Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: update-manager
On the amd64 Lucid install I'm using right now, the update manager
often (always?) appears unusable. The Install and Check option just
prompt for a password, flash the display briefly, grey out the
buttons, throw up a dialog saying "reading package information," and
return to the status quo ante of the main window. The updates that
were previously available are still shown as available; there was no
mention of anything being downloaded or installed.
The Settings button does the same, except it doesn't prompt for a
password. It greys out the buttons, says it's reading package
information, and puts you back in the main update manager window.
Running it from a terminal produces no output. Running apt-get update/upgrade will install the available updates without complaining.
