[Bug 1778110] Re: GRUB installation failed on SSD

Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. You either need to boot the installer in bios
mode, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition
to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you choose the "use
entire disk" guided install option.

Title:
  GRUB installation failed on SSD

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I was installing Ubuntu using a DVD, and I had to install it on one of
the disks. I chose EXT4 allocated almost 239 GB because otherwise it
gave other errors. Anyway I got the installation working but about 5
minutes later it spat out that the GRUB installer hasn't been
installed. Please do help, this is the only system I have in the house
  and I need this ASAP!
